Doing the work of God for the right reasons

Reflection on 17 of  January

1 Timothy 3:7 (NET) And he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil's trap.

When Paul spoke to Timothy about the criteria to select the leaders and servants in the church, he recommended picking people who had a good reputation. The recommendations included looking for people who had demonstrated ability to lead a godly house, who did not drink too much and even who had good reputation in the eyes of outsiders.

Even though I think it’s important for any christian to be inserted on portraying a good behavior so that non believers would be attracted, i also believe that it’s more important to have a good behavior for the love we have to God.

Reflecting on this verse, I wonder how many times We’ve done something just to impress other people, instead of responding to God’s love. I am praying right now for guidance from God, to remind me when my motivation is not primarily loving Him. Also, I pray He guides us to avoid any behaviors that could be reprochable and would be an excuse used by the enemy to push away non believers from the opportunity to know God through us.

Lord, Let our love actions speak to others more than 1,000 words.
