Who is your redeemer?

Regardless of what is going on on anyone’s life, everyday is day with a chance. What is the most important chance of life? Believing in God and receiving His Salvation. Yesterday I read a tweet from Rob Robinson (@FairMinded Faith) saying the following: “Imagine that for some, at the end of their life when it's too late, they will discover that they had the key to eternal life all along. In Luke 16, Jesus told the man in hell that he should have believed the Bible, he could have been saved. Today is the day of salvation. Believe!” https://twitter.com/fairmindedfaith/status/1396093558168330240?s=10 One of the purposes of this blog is to facilitate yet another channel to share the Good News. God has put in my heart the desire to provide means for many to reflect. I really hope that through reflection, many will come to believe in the truth of the Salvation that God offers us through His Son. Many of us have struggled with how gracious God is. It’s difficult to understand that G...

What does Islam say about the beliefs of the first followers of Jesus?

Sunnih muslim scholars through history  have taught that the true followers of Jesus believed he was only a man; just a prophet; not divine at all. They also teach that later a dissident  group rose teaching Jesus was divine. Some of those scholars assert that Paul of Tarsus was the one who misguided the large majority.  Some of these Muslim scholars taught the followers of Jesus had disputes all along about his deity.  Those scholars argue this is evident by the many theological controversies which persisted during the first three or four centuries of the Christian era. They argue that the true followers of Jesus remained in the shadows until the arrival of the Qur’an through the prophet Muhammad.   History evidence plays a decisive role on supporting or disproving the claims of the Qur'an, at least in this case. However, one would have to challenge the claim that the Qur'an is the word of God if it is misaligned with historical facts. My question to Mu...

The Belief that Messiah had to be Divine predated the time of Jesus

Image
Some skeptics and contradictors of Christianity claim that the Deity of Christ was an invention of people, something that progressively developed years after the time of Jesus on earth. I would like to provide evidence that this is not the case, and that in fact, the belief that Messiah is God pre-dated the incarnation of Jesus.   My argument in this article is based on the Book of Isaiah, a prophetic book which clearly speaks about the Son Of God, as I have documented in this other article. However, this time I'd like to present what the believers before the time of Jesus understood this prophetical book spoke about.   It’s important to highlight that the view of Rabbinical Jews today about Isaiah, and in specific of Isaiah 53 is not aligned with the view of Orthodox Judaism, especially in the first century BCE. To demonstrate this, I'd like to review what the Targums, and in specific to the Targum Johnathan say.   Targu...

The Deity of The Messiah

SUMMARY The concept of Trinity is commonly misunderstood by many people. It is the concept which defines God as one in what He is, but three in who He is. Other way of saying this is that the Almighty is One being, but three persons. Multiple assertions have become popular when discussing about the origins of the believe on a Triune God: - Some people say that it was invented by some Christians in the council of Nicea 300 years after Jesus  - Other people argue that the Trinity is definitely a Christian invention, for the Jews never came up with any concept which would point to support this. In this article I present references to first generation Christian writings outside the Bible who explicitly declare the deity of The Messiah. I also present references to Jewish writings which do present views aligned with the concept of the deity of the Messiah, from before and after the time of Jesus. The objective is to argument that the deity of The Messiah...

Eating pork

In several occasions I've come across to people asking, if the Bible say that you shall not eat pork, why is it accepted among most Christians? In honor to the truth, it's not a question I had thought of when I was starting in my faith. I would say that a vast majority of Christians do not even give it a thought. And perhaps many of those who give it a thought may have a wrong idea. One common answer is saying that we are under the covenant of grace and as such we don't need to follow these requirements. However, I want to explore and explain a more thorough answer. Studying the Bible, and in specific in the Torah, one can find many commandments. Among those it was listed a number of foods that would make one person ceremonially unclean, defiled. The word in hebrew is transliterated Tame. It was said that when the one person would eat unclean food, this person was defiled. In Matthew chapter 15 is related the following story 1 Then Pharisees and scribes came from J...

Is God unfair?

In the first 15 chapters of Exodus we read the accounts of the time when the people of Israel lived in Egypt. In several verses is said that God would harden the heart of Pharaoh. This certainly is a difficulty for any reader who may think of God as a tyrant, who did not love Pharaoh and simply pre-destined him to be an obstinate person. I would like to offer a short reflection looking beyond the a priori judgement. The Bible says God is love, and as such free will is necessary to enable true love to exist. God allows us to do anything we want, though this may be against His desires for us. The Bible also says that God is almighty, and He certainly could have the power to do anything, including hardening the heart of Pharaoh. A third characteristic of God I Would like to highlight is His omniscience, He knows it all. That includes knowledge of all events and of our choices, and the results of our choices.  The question is weather God really directly hardened the hear of Pharaoh. Di...
