Epilogue, my story

Epilogue  I want to start with a short note to tell you a bit about me and of my story. I hope this helps to demonstrate that I'm sincere on what I say. I can't tell everything but few details may help. I read from a classic respected commentator of Islam, Ibn Kathir the following statement: whatever in the bible agrees with the Qur'an is true. With this in mind, I'd like to start quoting  the following verse from the Qur'an: "And We ordained laws for him (Moses) in the tablets in all matters, both commanding and explaining all things, (and said): 'Take and hold these with firmness, and enjoin thy people to hold fast by the best in the precepts: soon shall I show you the homes of the wicked,- (How they lie desolate).'" ( Quran  7:145) As a catholic I grew up being told that God measured how good I was through the 10 commandments. It is related in the Torah that these were given as tablets to Moses in Mount Sinai. It is said that the tablets w

The Ram Abraham saw in Moriah

When reading in English the story of Abraham several details can be missed. Exploring the original hebrew version expands the message and allows discovering some details missed by the translators.   Jewisheyes.org  produced the article titled “Abraham time traveler” (October 13-19, 2013). This article presents a very interesting topic. It’s about the reason why in John  8:56  is reported that Jesus stated: “ Abraham saw my day ”. The Author, Rabbi Daniel Thomson, presents a very well articulated argumentation, explaining that Abraham had a vision during the preparation for the sacrifice of his only son. His argumentation uses portions from the Torah, other books of the Bible and  the Jewish tradition parables (Mishnah).   This article is extremely rich and enlightening. I really recommend reading it. Among other issues, Rabbi Thomson explains how in the original Hebrew of Genesis 22, it is clearly understood that Abraham had a vision. He had a vision of the future. This vision is prese

Do the Qur’an and Hadith present the right interpretation of what the term “Son of God” means?

During the last days I’ve been studying about the theological and prophetical meaning of the terms Messiah, Son of Man and Son of God. I’ve been doing a research from both biblical and Qur’anic point of view. I came across the article titled “ Jesus Christ – Son Of God?: The meaning of Son of God”  ( http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/547/ ). Interestingly, this article presents a view that contradicts the position of other Muslims. It recognizes that: “ No legitimate Christian sect suggests that God took a wife and had a child, and most certainly none conceive that God fathered a child through a human mother outside of marriage.  Furthermore, to suggest that God physically mated with an element of His creation is so far beyond the limits of religious tolerance as to plummet down the sheer cliff of blasphemy, chasing the mythology of the Greeks”.     The article concludes agreeing with The Oxford Dictionary of the Jewish Religion which “ confirms that in Jewish idiom “Son of God

Didn't Jesus preach the Gospel of Grace?

This week I  had a chance to listen to the story of Salahuddin Decero, an american born in a Roman Catholic family. Salahuddin after engulfing a life of worldly pleasures enrolled as Carmelite monk for eight and a half years. During this time he practiced a very ascetic life, dedicated to prayer and study of the Bible. One day he was challenged by a Muslim convert from christianity to defend whetherJesus really said that he was God. Salahuddin after being unable to answer, says that he studied the Bible in more detail, concluding that according to the Gospels, the Jesus presented in the Qur'an is more historical than the Jesus worshipped in christianity.  Also this week I came across to a debate aired on Trinity television, of which the muslim apologist Sheikh Mohammed Awal participated. During the debate, he quoted the gospel according to Matthew to defend his thesis that Jesus preached a message of religiosity, in alignment to what the Qur'an and islam teach. These are the sc
