The need of evidence to build a strong faith The Messiah’s prophesies III

No matter how, no matter when, The Lord has a plan for each one of his sons to bring us close to Him. Today we celebrate that God in his endless wisdom had a plan, and He made a covenant through the blood of the Son. It’s for this wonderful and perfect sacrifice, those who in Him believe have the privilege to be called Son’s of Him, and in the end they will be witness of the eternal and perfect Kingdom of God.

No one is born with full knowledge of God, and no one is exempt of having his faith tested. Though in faith there is a large component of experience, there is also a large component of conviction coming from our understanding, through the intelligence God gave us. When He made us in His image and likeliness (Gen 1:26), among other gifts, he gave us a precious gift: rationality. And this rationality allow us to make decisions based on intelligent assessments, despite whatever the final choice is. Therefore, it is also important to know exactly how to strengthen our faith through rational thoughts and cognitive evidence. The Holy Spirit works in us making evident the truth, and through the gift of free willingness we choose if we follow the path of God or not.

I imagine you have, and I have, gone through times where your hopes and faith have been tested. I bet you also have asked before if all the history we are told about Jesus is right. Everyday we see more and more efforts from the world to place a cover to blind us from seeing the truth. Many authors have written challenging the divinity of Jesus The Christ, and the purpose of Him coming to earth. However, The Lord thoughts are perfect, and He had already taken into account the efforts of the enemy to vanish the truth behind lies. Let us not forget that Satan is the father of lies.

There is a simple way to back up our experience. There is evidence in the Bible, the truthful word of God, to demonstrate who Jesus is. God used a large list of authors throughout the centuries to complete His book. This was to provide evidence of the truthfulness of the accounts presented in the Bible. To those authors, the Holy Spirit revealed throughout the history the covenants God had made and planned for from the beginning of times. God slowly revealed prophesy and promises to Israel, promises which were centered on the salvation of Humanity, through the sacrifice of the Perfect Lamb, Jesus Christ. God had planned it all from the beginning. And this is why is necessary to understand that each of the prophesies we are studying provide sufficient evidence and conviction to defend and strengthen our faith.

The third prophesy about our Savior relates that Jesus would be a descendant of Isaac. In Hebrew and Jewish tradition, the term “being the seed of” means to descend from. Two accounts in the Old Testament testify of this. Genesis 17:19 accounts that: Then God Said, “yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac (Yitz’chak in Hebrew). I will establish my covenant with Him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him”. We had seen before that Jesus would come of the seed of a woman, that he would be in dispute with the serpent, that he would be descendant of Abraham, but now we add He would be descendant of Isaac as well. This adds a major distinction, and already starts to close the door for others who later in History called themselves to be the latest one or the anointed one. Genesis 21:12 also remind us that God said to him (Abraham) “Do not be so distressed about the boy (Ismael) and your maidservant (Hagar), listen to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned. After this, God said to Abraham that he will be of Ishmael and his descendants a great nation, and he has, he has made of them a great power with great resources. God want to bless all of us without distinction of origin or race. When Jesus paid four our sins, he broke the barriers that separated us from God and made salvation available for all who love God and take the only path to God.

In a document found in the internet, named dialog, a Muslim relates his discussion with a former catholic in a period of doubt:
We the Muslims feel closer to Christians than to Jewish and to non believers, as described in Surah 5:82 “Among Jewish and those who associate idols to Allah you will find the most violent enmity. Among those who say “We are Christians”, you will find the closest, in love, for those who believe, and that is because among them there are priests and monks completely dedicated to the service of Allah and because they are not self-proud. Some Christian denominations are doing great efforts to recognize for the first time that Mohammad (pbuh) descended through Ishmael, through his second son, Cedar” (Original document in Spanish, translation by the author)
God wants to prevent us to fall under the deceit of the father or lies. God provided us with evidence to defend our faith. If God said to Abraham, who is also father to the Muslims, that his covenant would be through the seed of Isaac and his descendants, then there is no room to express that any of the descendants of Ishmail would be the anointed one, nor that God would fulfill his covenants through Ishmail’s seed.

The law of Moses provides a guideline to prove the truthfulness of an accounting. In the Law, the testimony of 2 or 3 are required to proof truthfulness. And in this basis God also revealed His word to several authors and avoiding contradiction, to demonstrate the truthfulness. If you challenge the truthfulness of the Bible by arguing there are passages that contradict each other, you simply have not read well enough the Bible. The prophesy of Jesus being the seed of Isaac is confirmed in the New Testament in 3 different accounts:
• Matthew 1:1-2 “A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham: Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers”
• Luke 3:34 (Baptism and Genealogy of Jesus) “The son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor”
• Hebrews 11:17-19 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him “it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned”. Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he received Isaac back from death

The love of God, the love of Jesus, the love of the Holy Spirit is evident through the accounts of truth. Ask yourself, how can so many people, separated so many years in time, speak in different place and time that Jesus is the Messiah? God loves us and he want us close to Him. We are all sinners and Jesus is the truth, the way and the life. No one goes to the father but through Jesus. Repent of your sins and believe that God paid for them in the cross.

Rejoice, Jesus is risen! You and I are saved! Praise The Lord!
